Abstrakt (ENG):

This paper is concerned with uncovering the specificities of the labyrinth as a motif in confessional writing in Mila Haugová’s poetry book The Garden: labyrinth: nest (2012). The Slovak poet’s poetics is remarkable for its intimate dimension and self-revealing authorial strategies. Primary importance is attached to mythological motifs. Secondary focus is on the different, similar or identical grasp of the dominant mythological motif in the work of selected poets of English and American provenance. Interpretive insights are used to illuminate key elements of Haugová’s poetics, such as the figure of Alpha, the intermingling of religious and erotic motifs, the introspective and philosophical character of the texts, etc.
