Abstrakt (ENG):

The study is concerned with procedures of transgression in relation to ironic tendencies in Slovak fiction. Using selected text exemplars, the study points out the interconnectedness of irony and transgression, here understood as the act of disturbing boundaries such as the breaking of conventions or rules which mediate the stability of the canonical literary tradition. Making use of a variety of methodological contexts (Bakhtin, Eco, Assmann, Petříčková), the main goal of the study is to demonstrate the ambivalent character of ironic transgression, especially in the sense of both deconstructing, as well as affirming literary tradition.
