Abstrakt (ENG):
This paper explores the religious and educational writings of Daniel Sartorius. His first work, Florilegium Biblicum aneb Květná zahrádka biblická (Florilegium Biblicum, or The Biblical Flower Garden, 1742), addressed to youth, introduces the core articles of the Christian faith. Diarium Biblicum aneb Historie biblické Starého i Nového zákona (Diarium Biblicum, or Biblical History of the Old and New Testaments, 1744) is an adapted translation of the book Zweimal zwei und fünfzig auserlesene Biblische Historien aus dem Alten und Neuen Testamente (Dvakrát päťdesiatdva vybraných biblických príbehov zo Starého a Nového zákona, 1714) by the German pedagogue Johann Hübner. Sartorius’s most popular work was Summovní postilka (A Concise Postil, 1746), which was used in Slovak Evangelical Lutheran communities up to the mid-20th century for both private and group reading. The postil serves as an example of composing a religious text with a high degree of artistic devices. The methodological framework for interpreting Sartorius’s works is grounded in the theses of literary historian Marta Keruľová, to whose life anniversary this paper is dedicated.
