Abstrakt (ENG):
The aim of the article is to reflect the novel The Great Future (2019) by slovak author Erik Šimšík. The author of the paper focuses on the genre character of prose; the author is interested in the potential of genre layers, the quality of their realization and implementation into the structure of the text, but also their connection with the thematic-motivic framework of individual genres. Through the interpretation of several aspects, the author tried to find out whether the prose is really flat in meaning and conceptually uninteresting, or it is possible to identify productive ambivalence, ambiguity.
