Abstrakt (ENG):
The life and work of the poet, translator and graphic artist Bohuslav Reynek (1892-1971), whose anniversary is being celebrated, developed in relation to his deep Christian spiritual dimension. This was linked with the rural environment of the Vysočina region and Petrkov, a locale not far from the town of Havlíčkův Brod, which is the location of his home farm. He never felt, however, like a villager. Thanks to his translations of the German expressionists and in particular the French symbolists, he established close contacts with Josef Florian in the town of Stará Říše and French modern Catholic poets, including his future wife Suzanne Renaud. She had the courage to move from Grenoble to a completely unknown country and could not have anticipated what a lack of understanding she would encounter, how much silence and how her family would be persecuted. Faith in God and submersion in art work helped both of them.
